The Fab Five on Super Sunday 9/30/12.

The Fab Five on Super Sunday 9/30/12. Football fans consider the Superbowl to be Super Sunday. For railfans Sunday 9/30/12 was Super Sunday. Five of Norfolk Southern's fabulous Heritage Locomotives passed through the Harrisburg PA area!! First of the fab five being northern and southern ladies. "Lady Liberty" the beautiful Central of New Jersey unit paired up with the precocious "Southern Belle" Savannah & Atlanta unit taking an empty coal train from Enola Yard across Rockville Bridge and up the Buffalo Line. Next up, a solo fab unit, none other than local celebrity The Reading "Bee Line" unit, which came into Harrisburg Yard, spent the afternoon sunning it's splendid green and yellow livery before departing west across Rockville Bridge with and empty coal train. The final pair of fab units came in from Pittsburgh and are Pennsylvania natives. The flashy Monongahela and classic Penn Central Units both represent predecessor Heritage railroads from Pennsylvania. They came into Enola Yard on a mixed freight train, freshly cleaned and spotless after being on display at Conway Yard. Kudos to Norfolk Southern for putting on a great show!! With or without Heritage units the parade of trains and amount of freight hauled is phenomenal, especially in and around the Harrisburg area. If you plan to do any railfanning check out The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast your ideal location for train watching in Central PA or the Harrisburg PA area. Bald Eagle Sightings At The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast

Bald Eagle Sightings At The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast Now that fall is officially here, many of the birds that reside around The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast are beginning to migrate south for the winter. However some of our most distinguished wildlife residents the Bald Eagles will be with us throughout the fall and winter months. In the past two weeks sightings from our riverfront deck and sitting room have increased dramatically, especially in the early morning and late evening when they come to the Susquehanna River to feed. In the four year period we have been in business, the number of Bald Eagles in the area has increased from one family to four. It is a great sight to see these marvelous birds soar gracefully, then swoop down to catch their prey. The attached picture shows an Eagle in a full dive for a fish.
