Stewartstown Railroad ~ Ride The Summertime Limited

Sit back, relax and enjoy a trip back in time on the historic Stewartstown Railroad Summertime Limited! The Summertime Limited train ride will take passengers on a relaxing trip through the beautiful Deer Creek Valley and to the picnic grove where they are invited to enjoy their picnic lunch. Passengers should bring their own food, drinks, and chairs. The train will layover at the picnic grove 30 minutes for lunch, and there will be some yard games to help keep folks entertained.
Chartered in 1884, and opened in 1885, the Stewartstown Railroad survives today in very much original condition, and retains its distinctive charm.

The Cornwall Iron Furnace in Cornwall, PA

Cornwall Iron Furnace is America's most complete charcoal-fueled iron-making complex. It is a unique survivor of the early American iron industry. Originally built by Peter Grubb in 1742, the furnace underwent extensive renovations in 1856-57 under its subsequent owners, the Coleman family, and closed in 1883. This mid-19th century ironmaking complex survives today. At Cornwall, furnace, blast equipment, and related buildings still stand as they did over a century ago. Here visitors can explore the rambling Gothic Revival buildings where cannons, stoves, plus pig iron were cast, by men that labored day and night to satisfy the furnace’s appetite for charcoal, limestone, and iron ore.
Cornwall Iron Furnace, a National Historic Landmark District, is the only one of America’s hundreds of 19th century charcoal fueled blast furnaces to survive fully intact. Certainly, an interesting place to explore!!

169th Annual Juniata County Fair 9/2/22-9/9/23

The 169th Annual Juniata County Fair September 2nd through 9th, 2023, in Port Royal, PA is an agricultural fair with rides, horse show, talent show, games, live entertainment, lawn mower races, garden tractor pulls and much more! As an added bonus the 410 sprint cars will be flying around The Port Royal Speedway right next to the fair! This is a huge event in Port Royal, and believe me, you don't want to miss it!
