Halloween at the Haunted Jail ~ Chambersburg, PA. 10/24, 25, 31 & 11/1 , 20

Join the Franklin County Historical Society for Halloween at the Haunted Jail Friday and Saturday October 24th, 25th, 31st and November 1st, 2025. Guests will meet ghosts, ghouls and spooks as they navigate Pennsylvania's longest continually operating jail, built in 1818.
During over 150 years of use as a prison, The Old Jail survived the burning of Chambersburg by Confederate Forces in 1864 and housed numerous criminals, including Captain John Cook, one of John Brown's men, captured after the unsuccessful raid at Harpers Ferry. The complex consists of the original 1818 building, an annex built in 1880, and a prison yard enclosed by 20-foot high limestone walls. There is also a cellar, which contains five domed dungeons with rings in the walls and floors that were used to shackle recalcitrant prisoners. This experience is not for the faint of heart, and those who choose to visit, do so at their own risk, as they learn about crime and punishment in a really scary setting!

Try The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast, no scary setting, or crime & punishment here! Just a beautiful panoramic view of the river and mountains where you can kick back and relax! We recently had the pleasure of hosting the Anniversary of Brian's Model Trains, located in Myerstown PA, an excellent family owned & operated model train shop. Brian chose The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast as the perfect place to hold a celebration for a group of train enthusiasts. September 22nd, 2025 First Day of Fall

The Autumnal Equinox in September marks the end of summer and beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. The autumn equinox is one of two days when all points on Earth except the polar regions see the sunrise and set at due east and due west. With few exceptions, all latitudes see almost precisely 12 hours of daylight and 12 of darkness. After the equinox arrives, trees and animals begin to behave differently based on the amount of sunlight they receive, the air at night is crisper. In the fields, farmers eagerly watch for the opportune time to harvest. Apples, pumpkins, and root vegetables ripen in the orchards and gardens. Autumn walks along the trails under the canopies of gold, violet and crimson leaves are a beautiful sight!
A great way to enjoy Autumn is to stay at The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast! Situated on the banks of the Susquehanna River surrounded by the Blue Mountains, The Bridgeview provides guests with unparalleled scenic views, not to mention fishing, kayaking and most importantly, just totally relaxing! Amenities include; clean comfortable rooms all with private baths, A/C, Wifi and a freshly prepared breakfast to start your day off right! Check our Trip Advisor Reviews, and website for room and rate information.
